Yves Scherer
Yves Scherer, born in 1987 in Solothurn, Switzerland, is an artist based in New York.
Trained at ECAL (École cantonale d’art de Lausanne), he has developed a practice focused on the representation of the body in the digital age. His works often take the form of hyperrealistic figurative sculptures and bas-reliefs.
Yves Scherer is particularly interested in figures drawn from pop culture, media icons, and the construction of identity through images.
He examines how bodies, often female, are idealized, consumed, and disseminated within a constant flow of visual content. His works play on a persistent tension between intimacy, desire, artificiality, and technological coldness.
His work has been exhibited in numerous international galleries and institutions, notably in Europe and the United States, and is included in several private collections. At the crossroads of classical art and contemporary digital aesthetics, Yves Scherer offers a critical and poetic reflection on our relationship to images, celebrity, and reality.
He is the recipient of the Förderpreis Bildende Kunst of the Canton of Solothurn (2012), a Swiss Art Award (2015), and was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 – Art & Design list in 2016.
